- 1977: Habilitation (second book) in practical theology/religious education at the University of Bern, Switzerland.
- 1981: Chair of Religious Education and Didactics of Protestant Religious Education at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg
- 2007: Emeritus status
- 2010: moved from Nuremberg to Goslar
